Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” ― Lao Tzu
The rose is surrounded by love. Who does not love a rose? The colour red is striking and reminiscent of the sense of love. It smells like a world you don’t yet know. A world you want to visit. A world you want to explore.
I know a bank where the wild thyme blows, Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows, Quite overcanopied with luscious woodbine, With sweet muskroses and with eglantine.
Oberon’s speech from Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare
To receive a dozen red roses symbolises love. The symbol needs no words. The language of love has been sensed with your nose for the smell. Your heart for the love. Your mind with an image and your idea of the smell of love. Imagine to feel, smell and sense such joy?
A magical world where you can explore these themes and its setting is Summer Dreaming 2023 by Manchester Shakespeare Co
The Magical Spirits
Some of the ‘Summer Dreaming' charcterswho live in the Forest of Ardwick are barefoot. They have no need to feel the fabricated world beyond. They live in sacred trees. It is a place full of play and wonder. Imagine how you could connect to your other spiritual world. Remember how your feet felt at the beach. You took your shoes and socks off to feel the sand run through your toes. A moment of feeling free overwhelms your senses. Your freedom at that moment beguiles your inner child.
If the sacred tree you see in the forest of Ardwick is the one you would love to live in, could you the face the dangers of existence over hundreds of years? Is love at the core of everything we do, say, feel, desire?
If we are ‘deeply in love and share the world of nature in all its glory, then we have the courage to experience everything.
